The San José State men's soccer team look for their first win since August 28, when they host Seattle University in the WAC home opener on Thursday, October 6, before traveling to CSU Bakersfield on Saturday, October 8.

PLAYING TIME:

Twenty-four of the 27 players on the roster have played this season.  Goalkeepers Rodrigo Reyes-Zavalza, Kris Donaldson and Josephy Kay have yet to play this season.   Midfielder Jonathan Colunga, defenseman Kyle O’Mahoney and goalkeeper Nedin Tucakovic are the only three that have started all eleven Spartan games.

Saturday's Result Earns Men's Soccer Bid To WAC Tournament
The Spartans played CSU Bakersfield to a 0-0 draw, but the point earned secured a spot in the 2015 WAC Men's Soccer Tournament next week.

Tucakovic is third in the NCAA in goalie minutes played with 1069:42 and fourth in total saves (61). 

PENALTY KICK KILLER:

Tucakovic has stopped both penalty kick attempts this season, one against Pacific and the other against UC Riverside.  Against Pacific, Tucakovic made his save with the score tied at 2-2, which the Spartans went on to win, 3-2.  Against UCR, Tucakovic kept the score tied at 1-1 with his save and the game eventually ended in a 2-2 tie.   

NON-CONFERENCE RECORD:

San José State finished its non-conference slate with a record of 1-7-1.  The Spartans won two non-conference games in each of Spartan head coach Simon Tobin’s first two seasons at SJSU. 

CONFERENCE HOME OPENER:

The Spartans are 1-1-0 in conference home openers under Tobin, winning, 3-1, against Houston Baptist in 2014 and losing, 1-0, against UNLV in 2015. 

SERIES HISTORY WITH SEATTLE UNIVERSITY:

San José State leads the all-time series against Seattle, 8-5-3, dating back to 1973.  Currently, Seattle has a five game winning streak in the series.  Tobin is 0-2-0 against Seattle in his two seasons at SJSU.  Seattle won the last match at San Jose, 3-2, in 2014. 

SERIES HISTORY WITH CSU BAKERSFIELD:

San José State leads the all-time series against CSU Bakersfield, 8-6-1, dating back to 2007.  The longest win streak for either team is three games, with the Spartans doing it twice from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2011 to 2012.   The last two matches between the schools have been played at San Jose, with the Spartans winning, 2-0, in 2014 and tying last season’s match, 0-0. 

TREND OF FALLING BEHIND:

In each of the last ten games, the Spartans have allowed the opponent to score the first goal, going 1-8-1 in the span, with the sole win coming against Pacific.
