Oakland, Calif.-----For the first time this season, the San Jose State University men’s soccer team is ranked in a national poll. Soccer America, one of the nation’s widely read publications on the sport, has the Spartans ranked 23rd in its September 29 poll.

Last week, after a two-week layoff, San Jose State defeated then #6-Santa Clara, 2-1, in Spartan Stadium, beat CS Sacramento, 6-1, and battled Cal Poly to a 0-0 overtime tie.

San Jose State, 4-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, returns to action, Wednesday, October 1, when it hosts Cal State Monterey Bay in a non-conference game at the Spartan Soccer Field at 10th and Alma. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
