Men's Soccer Preview
San Jose State (6-3) begins their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation schedule at Sacramento State (5-2-1), Sunday, October 3. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Hornet Soccer Field. The Spartans currently place third in the MPSF non-conference standings.

San Jose State topped the rankings of HendrickCars.com Regional Rankings ending September 28. The Spartans rank at No. 10 in the NCAA Rankings Regional-Far West.
Scouting The Hornets
Sacramento State (5-2-1) is coming off a record-breaking 2009 season in which the team went undefeated in conference play, won both the MPSF regular season and tournament championships, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The Hornets tied Santa Clara 1-1 on Sunday, September 26. Before the tie, the Hornets hadn't allowed a goal in four straight games. Junior Chris Bettencourt leads the team in points (9) and goals (3). Goalkeeper Cesar Castillo holds a 1.05 goals against average per game.
The Series With SAC
San Jose State owns a 17-6-2 advantage in the overall series. In 2009 the Spartans split the series, winning the first game 2-1 at home, and then falling 4-3 in the last regular-season match at Sacramento State.
Last Week's results
The Spartans recorded an impressive 2-1 comeback victory at home over San Francisco Sunday, September 26. Down 1-0 with less than four minutes remaining in regulation, MPSF scoring leader Josh Boemecke scored the equalizer in the 8th minute, followed by Stephen Cordova's game-winner in the 88th. The Spartans were edged by Santa Clara 2-1 on Friday, September 24.
Leading the MPSF Pack
San Jose State leads in five MPSF ranking categories. Senior Midfielder Josh Boemecke leads the conference in points (12), points per game (1.33), goals (6), goals per game (0.67) and game-winning goals (3). The Spartans claim second in points per game (5), goals per game (1.78) assists per game (1.44) and goals against average (1.10)
The Spartans continue their longest road trip of the season traveling to Seattle University on Friday, October 8. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
