Randy Poggio named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Brine "Player of the Week"

Randy Poggio scored three times
last week to earn "Player of
the Week" honors.
Woodland, Calif.-----San Jose State University sophomore forward Randy Poggio was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Brine "Player of the Week" for games ending the week of September 27.

Poggio, from Anaheim, Calif., scored three goals in the three games the Spartans played last week. In a 2-1 win over then #6-ranked Santa Clara, Poggio opened the scoring with a goal in the sixth minute as the Spartans became the first team in 2003 to score two goals this season against the Broncos. He went on to score two goals in the 6-1 victory over CS Sacramento in the conference opener for both schools.

Poggio is the team leader in goal scoring with four. He is the first Spartan to receive conference "Player of the Week" honors in 2003.

San Jose State returns to action, Wednesday, October 1 when it hosts Cal State Monterey Bay in a 3:00 p.m. non-conference game at the Spartan Soccer Field located at 10th and Alma streets.
