SJSU: In his first season at San Jose State.

HIGH SCHOOL: Richard Halvorsen was a four-year letterman in soccer at Geyserville (Calif.) High School. He was the North Central League’s “Most Valuable Player” in 1999 and 2000, was a first-team all-league pick in 1998 and was a second team all-league selection in 1997. Halvorsen was named the all-Empire “Player of the Year” in 2000 and was a first-team all-Empire pick in 1999. He was named the 2000 Santa Rosa Press Democrat “Player of the Year.” He also lettered three times in basketball and baseball and once in cross country and golf.

Richard John Halvorsen was born on Jan. 28, 1983, in Santa Rosa, Calif. His parents are John and Bobbi Halvorsen. He has a sister, Melissa (17). He is majoring in civil engineering. His favorite activities include basketball, hiking and mountain biking.
