8 Lars Lyssand

SJSU: In his fourth season at San Jose State. Lars Lyssand played in 21 games and started 20 times in 2000. He was a first-team MPSF all-Mountain Division selection. He scored five goals and had nine assists during the year, including three assists in the season opener against CS San Bernardino, and two assists in games against CS Sacramento and Loyola-Chicago. He scored a goal in three straight games during the year.

1999: Lyssand started all 19 games in 1999. He scored a goal on Oct. 17 vs. Tulsa and recorded three assists during the season. He was a second team all-Western Athletic Conference pick. 1998: Lyssand started every game his freshman season. He scored two goals in a key win at TCU and scored four of his five goals in the final seven games of the season.

Lyssand lettered in soccer (3 years), football (4 years) and baseball (2 years) at Woodside High School in Redwood City, Calif. He was the team’s and league’s “Most Valuable Player” in soccer his senior season and was a two-time all-league selection. He also received all-league honors in football and baseball.

PERSONAL: Lars Robert Lyssand was born on Dec. 29, 1979. His parents are Age and Eva-Lena Lyssand and he has five brothers and sisters – Monika (27), Johan (25), Berit (23), Sven (18) and Kristian (16). He has played for the Juveniles Azteca International club team coached by his father. He is majoring in business. He enjoys roller hockey, snowboarding, gardening, cooking and San Jose Sharks games.
