15 Fausto Villegas

SJSU: In his fourth season with the Spartans. Fausto Villegas started and played in 21 games last season. He scored two goals and had one assist. He scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over CS Northridge on Sept. 8, and had a goal in a 4-0 win at Fresno State on Oct. 12. He had an assist in a 3-0 win over Loyola-Chicago on Sept. 23. Villegas redshirted in 1999. In 1998 he appeared in 17 games and was a starter eight times. He tied for fourth on the team in shooting percentage with a .273 mark, contributing three goals and two assists. He had the game-winning goal in a win over UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 2nd.

HIGH SCHOOL: Villegas lettered in soccer four years at Half Moon Bay (Calif.) High School. He was a 1998 Parade All-American selection. He was his league’s “Most Valuable Player” and a four-time all-league pick.

PERSONAL: Fausto Villegas, Jr., was born on Sept. 10, 1980, in Redwood City, Calif. His parents are Fausto and Amanda Villegas. He has a sister, Erica (19), and a brother, Gerardo (11). He is majoring in sociology. He was a starter for the U.S. national team in the Under-17 World Championship in 1998.
