9 Daniel Castillo

SJSU: In his fourth season with the Spartans. Daniel Castillo played in 11 matches in 2000. He had six shots including three shots on goal. Castillo played in 12 matches and started five in 1999. He had four shots including one shot on goal. Castillo redshirted the 1998 season.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Castillo was a four-sport athlete at Homestead High School in Cupertino, Calif., where he lettered four times in soccer, twice in football and track and field, and once in cross country. He was a two-time first team all-section soccer player, was named to the all-league team three times, and was the team’s “Most Valuable Player” and two-time “Offensive Player of the Year.” He also was a first-team all league player in football and broke the school record in the 800-meters and 400-meters in track and field.

PERSONAL: Born Daniel Gonzalez Castillo on Jan. 19, 1978, in Los Angeles, Calif. His parents are Julio and Carmen Castillo. He has a brother, Julio (10), and a sister, Amanda (7). He is majoring in sociology with a minor in business. He enjoys watching movies, playing video games and playing basketball.
