Josh Boemecke Earns National Team Of The Week Honor

San Jose, Calif.----San Jose State men's soccer senior Josh Boemecke has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week ending September 12.

Boemecke - who was one of just two midfielders honored by CSN - scored the lone goal in San Jose State's 1-0 win over Cal State Fullerton.  He also contributed a goal to help the Spartans secure a 3-1 victory over CSU Northridge, sealing the championship at the Cal State Fullerton Men's Soccer Tournament.

Boemecke scored high in the September 13 NCAA National Rankings statistics. The report posted the 2010 men's soccer combined statistics and Boemecke showed up in three Top 10 categories. The senior midfielder, who played in all five games, ranked 2nd in total goals (5), 6th in total points (10) and 9th in goals per game (1.0).  Boemecke leads the Spartan offense in game-winning goals (3) and shots on goal (10).

"I am honored to be chosen to the Team (CSN).  I am very fortunate because most of the time I happen to be the last player who touches the ball.  My team does all of the work," stated Boemecke on his recent accomplishment.  "My NCAA rankings is a good reflection on how the overall team is performing.  We are playing well and I am fortunate to be in this position."   

The Spartans return to action at home facing Saint Mary's College, Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. followed by Loyola Marymount, Sunday, September 19 at 1:00 p.m.
