Just before getting on the bus for men’s soccer’s trip to UC Riverside, sophomore Nick Cukar took a moment to answer this week’s 20 Questions. Cukar was just named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s Player of the Week following his impressive effort at the Davidson adidas Classic. The midfielder scored two goals in the tournament and was named to the All-Tournament team.
1.) When did you start playing soccer?
When I was really young, like 6 or 7.
2.) Why did you choose soccer?
I played all kinds of sports, but when I got to high school it came down to soccer or basketball and I chose soccer and dropped all the other sports.
3.) What is your major?
I’m undecided right now.
4.) What majors are you looking into?
Maybe health science or kinesiology.
5.) What’s your favorite class at San Jose State?
I’m taking a philosophy class right now and I really like that.
6.) What are your career aspirations?
Just to succeed in life and everything I set my mind to.
7.) What’s your favorite movie?
That’s a tough one. Batman Begins is pretty good.
8.) Who is your favorite actor/actress?
Jim Carrey is a good one.
9.) What was the last song you downloaded?
That was about five minutes ago. It was Michael Buble Everything. A really random song.
10.) What’s your favorite food?
11.) What’s your dream vacation spot?
I’d have to say Bahamas.
12.) Who are the most influential people in your life?
My parents. They’re always there, supporting me and they work hard.
13.) What do you like to do in your free time?
Kick back, watch movies or play video games.
14.) If you could play any other sport, what would you play?
15.) What are your favorite professional sports teams?
The Niners and the Giants.
16.) What’s your favorite SJSU team other than soccer?
The volleyball team. They’re pretty good.
17.) Who is your favorite athlete?
It would probably be Ruud Van Nistelrooy. He used to play for Manchester United and now he’s on Real Madrid.
18.) Where is the toughest place to play in the MPSF?
Definitely Colorado (Air Force and Denver). The air there is so thin.
19.) How do you think the San Jose State men’s soccer is going to do this year?
Very well I think. I hear people talking that we’re parallel with the 2005 team and that we have a lot of talent. I think we’ll do well.
20.) If you could be anywhere but here right now, where would you be?
I think I’d probably be in Hawaii on vacation.
