San Jose State and #5 Stanford battle to 0-0


SAN JOSE - Both teams had a chance to win in the first overtime. First, Stanford's Johanes Maliza had a wide open shot at the Spartan net but shot the bar high over the crossbar. Then, Spartan Aman Kebreab had an angle at the goal but shot it wide left.

The physical play showed as both teams combined for 47 fouls, 24 by Stanford and 23 by San Jose State. Each team also had one player receive a yellow card.

Stanford outshot the Spartans for the match 17-10, but had only four shots on goal. The Cardinal outshout SJSU 11-1 in the first half, but SJSU rebounded in the second half to outshoot Stanford 7-2. The Spartans had five shots on goal. San Jose State will now travel to CS Sacramento this Wednesday for a 5 p.m. match.
