Men's Soccer Heads To Santa Clara

San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State men’s soccer team plays its first road match of the 2012 season on Sunday when they visit Bay Area rival Santa Clara.

MEN’S SOCCER TICKETS
Tickets for all San Jose State men’s soccer home games are free for all SJSU students with a valid student ID.  Adult tickets are $5.00, $3.00 for youth (12 and under) and $1 for any child wearing a jersey.

Groups of 20 or more can buy discounted tickets at $3.00 per person.  The ticket office opens one hours prior to kick-off at Spartan Stadium or can be purchased by calling San Jose State Athletics Ticket Office at 408-924-SJTX (7589).   

SCOUTING SANTA CLARA­­­­
The Broncos are coming off a 1-2 defeat against North Carolina State last week in Durham N.C., and currently sit a 1-2 on the season.

Santa Clara has four players with one goal a piece and are led by Erik Hurtado with three points (1G, 1A) on a team-leading 15 shots. Carlos Montes is also on three points (1G, 1A).

Larry Jackson (1.67 GAA, .737 save %) has played all the team’s minutes in goal and has a 1-2-0 record. 

Cameron Rast is in his 11th season leading the Santa Clara program.  He had a 114-58-38 record entering this year.

The Broncos host No. 2 Creighton on Friday before their match with the Spartans on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT
In their second game of the year, San Jose State dropped a 1-3 decision to Cal Poly in Spartan Stadium on Sunday, September 2.

In the 19th minute of the match, Dylan Murphy picked up his and the team’s first goal of the season.  Kyler McLaughlin got an assist, playing the ball into the box for Murphy who headed it home.

The goal made the score 1-2, after Cal Poly had scored two goals in the first three minutes of the contest.  The Mustangs added another goal in the 47th minute for the final score.
