Brand, Cukar, Wenyon, Akiyama Earn All-Tournament Honors

Davidson, N.C. - Four members of the San Jose State men’s soccer team were named to the Davidson adidas Classic All-Tournament Team, as announced by the host school on Monday. Ed Brand earned top honors as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Also earning honors were Nick Cukar, Gavin Wenyon and Hiroki Akiyama.

Brand, Wenyon and Akiyama played all 192 minutes of action in the tournament over the holiday weekend. The defense by these three players helped the Spartans to their first two victories of the 2007 season. They held their opponents to just three goals while the Spartan offense went on to score five.

Cukar is currently the team leader in goals with two. The sophomore scored a goal in each game of the tournament to help lead San Jose State to victory.
