San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose State University men’s soccer team has changed the start time of its upcoming exhibition game with UC Santa Cruz. The match will now begin at 7:00 p.m. at Spartan Stadium this Friday, August 24, instead of 5:00 p.m.
The exhibition contest will mark the first home action of any of the 16 Spartan programs for the 2007-08 season, with students back in school on Thursday, August 23. Admission is free of charge to everyone.
Under 18th-year head coach Gary St. Clair, San Jose State began preseason training on Wednesday, August 15, with the first of three triple days. The Spartans will be on hand at the Silicon Valley Capital Club in downtown San Jose on Wednesday, August 22, for their annual Kick-Off Night, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Following the exhibition meeting with UC Santa Cruz, San Jose State will begin the 2007 season for real the following week, traveling to North Carolina on Thursday, August 30, for the Davidson adidas Classic over the weekend. The trip, the Spartans’ first out-of-region foray since the 1995 campaign, will begin with the season opener against Charlotte in Davidson, N.C., on Friday evening, August 31. St. Clair’s squad will then face host Davidson on Sunday afternoon, September 2.
