Men's Soccer Starts Regular Season With Kickoff Event

Aug 20, 2013

San Jose, Calif. - The San José State University Soccer Kick-Off Night, for the 2013 Spartan men's soccer season, is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28 at the Silicon Valley Capital Club in downtown San Jose's Knight-Ridder Building.

The Spartans return to the Western Athletic Conference in 2013, having competed in the league from 1996-99. Five teams in conference are former opponents from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation: CSU Bakersfield, Air Force, UNLV, Seattle U and Houston Baptist. They join Grand Canyon, Kansas City to make up the eight-team league.

Soccer Kick-Off Night, now in its 15th consecutive year, will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and drinks, from a no-host bar, will be served.

Attendees can mingle with the coaches and players from the 2013 men's soccer team. Reservations are not necessary, but the Capital Club does require business attire at its functions. Validated parking is available in the Knight-Ridder Building.

The Capital Club is located on the 17th floor at 50 W. San Fernando Street, between Market and First streets.

The Spartans regular season opener is two nights later, at 7:00 p.m. on August 30 against Sacramento State in Spartan Stadium.
