Men's Soccer Picked Fifth In MPSF Preseason Poll

Woodland, Calif.-----Even with eight returning starters and 14 total letterwinners from the 2009 team that finished third in the conference standings, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's (MPSF) eight coaches picked San Jose State to finish fifth in their annual pre-season poll.

            New Mexico and defending conference champion Sacramento State, two teams that competed in 2009 NCAA Championship play, were picked one-two. Four coaches named New Mexico as the top MPSF team; three picked Sacramento State. Cal State Bakersfield received the other first-place vote.

            San Jose State begins pre-season practice, Tuesday, August 17. The Spartans open the 2010 season on August 25 in Spartan Stadium with a non-conference match against UC Santa Cruz. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
