Men's soccer receives votes in College Soccer News preseason poll

Tallahassee, Fla.-----With eight returning starters from last year’s team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament, San Jose State University received votes in College Soccer News’ preseason top-30 national poll.

Fifty teams received votes in the annual poll including three 2004 Spartan opponents. Santa Clara, San Jose State’s opponent on September 16 at Santa Clara, was picked 16th. California, the Spartans’ foe on September 12 in Berkeley, finished 20th in the preseason poll. Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponent New Mexico was 28th.

San Jose State opens its season on Friday, August 27, hosting UC Santa Cruz in an exhibition game. The Spartans begin regular season action, Wednesday, September 1, hosting Notre Dame de Namur.
