Former Spartan soccer standout added to all-star roster

Former San Jose State University soccer standout C.J. Brown has been added to the West roster as a reserve for Saturday's MLS All-Star game, to be played at Spartan Stadium.

Brown, a defender with the Chicago Fire, will be making his first appearance in the All-Star game, which is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. (PT) and will be televised by ABC.

A two-time all-conference selection while at San Jose State, Brown was the first player selected in the 1998 MLS supplemental draft. In his fourth season with the Fire, he has started all but four games in his career (he sat out four games earlier this season with an injury).

Chicago has an 11-4-3 record and is in first place in the Central Division of the MLS.
