Lyssand Scores Again as the Spartans Win Over UC Irvine

Lyssand fueled the offense by scoring his eighth goal of the season to tie the game at 37:33. The teams took a 1-1 tie into the half, until Lyssand directed the ball to Richard Halvorsen on a corner kick. Halvorsen beat out the Anteater defense, heading the ball into the goal for the game winner.

San Jose State’s starting goaltender, Eddie Dominguez, left the game after 22 minutes after aggravating a facial injury suffered against UC Santa Barbara Sept. 23. Back-up Spartan goalkeeper, Daniel Benton, played a perfect game notching three saves.

The loss drops the Anteaters record to 3-3-2 on the year. The Spartans improve to 5-3-0 on the season.

San Jose State wraps up the season’s non-conference games this week travelling to Stanford to Thursday and hosting Cal Poly next Sunday.
