Frank Sanfilippo named Far West All-American

Frank Sanfilippo anchored a
defense that had six shutouts.
Senior defender Frank Sanfilippo was named a Far West All-American as voted by members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Sanfilippo, a three-year starter for the San Jose State University men’s soccer team, was named to the first team. The regional pool of players are used to vote for the national All-Americans.

Sanfilippo was switched from a midfielder to the defender position to anchor the Spartan defense which helped the team play to 16 one-goal matches, nine overtime matches and limiting the opposition to just 29 goals scored. The Spartans did not allow more than three goals to the opposition in a single game and pitched six shutouts.
