The San Jose State University men’s soccer team will hold its annual golf tournament at 1:00 p.m. on June 9 at Sunol Valley Golf Club. Last year, the tournament raised over $17,000.

Besides raising funds for the soccer program, each year the tournament honors select individuals who have made an impact on and off the field at the Lifetime Achievement Dinner. This year, the Spartans honor Nick Nicholas, Fred Nourzad and John Smillie.

Nicholas played with the Spartans in 1971 and 1972 and went on to play for the Portland Timbers of the North American Soccer League. Nourzad played from 1967-68, earning first team All-American honors in 1968. Smillie spent the 1974 and 1975 seasons with the Spartans and earned honorable mention All-American honors in 1975. He also played in the NASL with the original San Jose Earthquakes.

The event will be a shotgun start scramble format. Entry fees include greens fees, cart, range balls, lunch and the Lifetime Achievement Dinner. For non-golfers, tickets for the dinner can be purchased for $30 per person.

"Early Bird" fees will be $125 per person and $500 per foursome if registered before April 18, otherwise it is $150 per player and $600 per foursome.
