Men's soccer scrimmage with Earthquakes ends in 1-1 tie

SAN JOSE, Calif.---The San Jose State University men’s soccer team tied Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes, 1-1, in an exhibition match held at the SJSU soccer fields Thursday afternoon.

The teams remained scoreless through 76 minutes of action before the Earthquakes forward Dwayne De Rosario found the net in the 77th minute.

The Spartans needed just three minutes to tie the game. Forward Randy Poggio notched the goal on midfielder Frank Sanfilippo’s assist.

The Spartans continue their spring schedule with scrimmages against Saint Mary’s and UC Santa Barbara Saturday, April 5 at the SJSU soccer fields. The first 60-minute scrimmage begins at 11:00 a.m.
