Isaias Bardales signs with MLS' Project-40

Isaias Bardales, a sophomore on the San Jose State University men's soccer team, has signed with Project-40. The announcement was made by Todd Durbin, MLS Vice President of Player Personnel and Managing Director of Pro-40.

Bardales joins the pro ranks following two standout seasons at San Jose State, where this past season he helped the Spartans to a 20-1-1 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance, while finishing as the team's second leading scorer with 11 goals and three assists.

A member of the U.S. U-20 National Team that qualified for the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championships held in Nigeria, Bardales earned 10 career caps for the U-20's. Coached by L.A. Galaxy Head Coach Sigi Schmid, that squad included other young MLS standouts such as Kellogg's Rookie of the Year Carlos Bocanegra, Rusty Pierce, Danny Califf and Nick Garcia of the MLS Cup Champion Kansas City Wizards.

"Isaias is a creative attacking player who has had some bad luck with injuries", said Schmid, "and in fact it was only an ankle injury that kept him from being a part of the U.S. Under-20 National Team for the 1999 Youth World Cup in Nigeria."
