Espinosa and Loveless Garner WAC Academic Honors

San Jose, Calif. - San José State men's soccer players Emmanuel Espinosa and Jamison Loveless have been named Academic All-Western Athletic Conference (WAC) honorees for the 2013 season.

To be recognized a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better; have completed one full academic year at his institution prior to this year and have competed in 50 percent or more of his team's matches this season.

Espinosa, a sophomore keeper out of San Jose’s Evergreen Valley High School posted a 3.393 GPA.  Majoring in communications, he started 15 matches in 2013.  Espinosa ranked in the top-5 in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts among conference keepers.  For his play in three matches in the 2013 WAC Championship he garnered All-Tournament Team recognition.

A civil engineering major from Boise (Idaho) High School, Loveless has 3.284 GPA.  The junior midfielder made 14 starts in 18 appearances and assisted on one goal in 2013.  He earned WAC All-Tournament Team honors in the Spartans run to the championship match of the 2013 Conference Tournament. 

A total of 33 student-athletes from the eight WAC men's soccer schools earned All-Academic honors in 2013.
