Men's soccer announces 2006 schedule

San Jose, Calif.---The men’s soccer team has released its 2006 schedule, head coach Gary St. Clair announced.

The Spartans will again start their season with a home exhibition against UC Santa Cruz. In non-conference action they’ll take on three 2005 NCAA tournament qualifiers in San Francisco, California, and Santa Clara. Their meeting with California will take place at the Stanford Nike Invitational, at which they'll face the Cardinal two days after taking on the Golden Bears.

"The 2006 schedule will again be very difficult,” St. Clair said.

During Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Action, San Jose State will square off against NCAA Championship finalist New Mexico twice. The Spartans handed the Lobos their only regular-season loss in 2005 and their first loss at home in nearly two years when they defeated them 3-2 in overtime.

“I fully expect that each of our MPSF Conference opponents will be improved, “ St. Clair said. “I do not see a weak team on our schedule."
