San Jose State University Men’s Golf Fifth at Las Vegas Shootout

Las Vegas, Nev.-----Rosco Valentine’s even par 71 led San Jose State University in the final round of the Las Vegas Shootout at Angel Park.

The Spartans, consistent in their team scoring throughout the 54-hole tournament, finished with an 871 total on the 6,722-yard Angel Park Club course. San Jose State posted scores of 290 in each of the first two rounds and 291 in the final round on September 30 to finish fourth in the 15-team field.

UNLV took team honors with an 840 total. Cal State Northridge was second ay 857. The UNLV “B” team at 869 and Southern Utah at 870 edged out San Jose State.

Valentine’s final round score allowed him to finish in a tie for 25th place. Teammate Drew Nottenkamper was another one of five players with Valentine at five-over par 218. Stephan Stallworth was the top finisher for the Spartans tying for 20th place at 217.

Brandon Crick of Gonzaga earned medalist honors with a six-under par 207. He was one of just five golfers in the 100-player field to finish under par.

The Spartans return to action, Monday, October 8, at the Mackenzie Invitational in Corte Madera, Calif., hosted by the University of California.
