Bromley Shoots Under Par; Spartans Still 10th

Burlington, Iowa -- A two-over par 290 in the second round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge marked an overnight 16 shot improvement for San Jose State University on September 17.

The Spartans remain tied for 10th place through 36 holes at the 7,360-yard par 72 Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa.

"We got a good night of rest and played much better today," said San Jose State head coach John Kennaday. "We can still get things done tomorrow."

Freshman Taylor Bromley led the Spartans with a one under 71. Six birdies helped Bromley to his season-low 18-hole score and first career round in red figures. He is tied for 39th on the player leader board.

"Taylor was great," said Kennaday. "We went out and did some work on the range together. That, and some good rest made the difference for him."

Justin Estrada shot an even par 72 Monday, giving him San Jose State's lowest score through the first 36 holes of 145 (+1). He made five birdies on the round and is tied for 13th place.

Cody Blickensderfer and Connor Covington made a combined nine shot improvement in round two. Blickensderfer shot a 74 (+2) and is tied for 39th place while Covington had a 73 (+1) and sits in a tie for 46th.
