Men's Golf Opens Season At Itani Quality Homes Collegiate

The San Jose State University men’s golf team tees off for the first time in the 2016-17 season as one of 14 teams in the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate hosted by Washington State University.

The 54-hole tournament consists of 36 holes on September 12 and 18 holes the following day. Team and individual competition begins each day on the par 71, 7,308-yard Palouse Ridge course in Pullman, Wash., at 8:00 a.m. (PT).

The Spartans will be playing with the University of British Columbia, Fullerton State, Gonzaga, Idaho, Pacific, Sacramento State, Seattle University, University of South Dakota, Utah, Utah Valley, UTRGV, Western Washington, and host Washington State.

San Jose State head coach John Kennaday plans to have a lineup of juniors Scott Munger, Matthew Murray and Henrik Sohlberg and Brett Thawley, and junior college transfer Sean Talmadge.

The Spartans last played the Palouse Ridge golf course in 2012 with much success. San Jose State finished third out of 11 teams with an 890 team score.
