Spartans Set To Defend Trophy In Season Opener

The defending Western Athletic Conference champion San Jose State men's golf team begins their 2012-13 season at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in Pullman, Wash., on September 10.

The Itani Quality Homes Collegiate is the fourth annual men's collegiate tournament held at the 7,308-yard par 72 Palouse Ridge Golf Club. The Spartans return to the tournament this year as the defending champions after a dominating 17-stroke win in 2011.

"These guys are ready for some competitive golf," said San Jose State head coach John Kennaday. "It feels good coming in with the title of defending champion. We want to continue that way of success."

The Spartans are competing against: Arizona, Boise State, British Columbia, Cal State Fullerton, Gonzaga, Idaho, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Utah Valley and host Washington State.

The tournament begins with 36 holes on Monday with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. PST and continues Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
