Oberholser Remains in Top-10 at PGA Championship

Tulsa, Okla.-----Former San Jose State star Arron Oberholser remained in the top-10 after 36 holes of the 89th PGA Championship, the fourth and final “major” championship of the Professional Golfers Association tour.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oberholser posted a second-round 72 on the par 70 Southern Hills Country Club course. He has a two-day total of even par 140 and is a sixth-way tie for ninth place.

Tiger Woods, whom Oberholser defeated for the individual title at the 50th annual Western Intercollegiate at the Pasatiempo Golf Course in 1995 when Woods was a sophomore at Stanford, moved into first place with a second round seven-under par 63. Woods, who has a 134 total, is two strokes ahead of American Scott Verplank.

72 players in the 156-player field advanced to third and fourth round action. A score of 145 or better was necessary to play the final 36 holes.
