Arron Oberholser Tied for 3rd at PGA Championship

Tulsa, Okla.-----Arron Oberholser was one of only 12 players under par after the first round of the 89th PGA Championship, the final “major” professional men’s golf tournament of the year.

 



Oberholser, the former San Jose State star, fired an opening round 68 and is tied for third place with American Woody Austin and Canada’s Stephen Ames. Graeme Storm of England stormed to the first-round lead with four birdies the first seven holes for a five-under par 65. John Daly, the 1991 PGA Championship winner, is second at 67.

The three-time Spartan All-American was four-under par through 15 holes, but suffered a double-bogey six on the 16th hole on the par 70 Southern Hills Country Club course.

Second-round action is on Friday, August 10. The championship runs through Sunday, August 12. TNT will provide six hours of live television coverage on August 10 beginning a 11:00 a.m. (PDT).
