Oberholser Doubles British Open Birdie Count

Carnoustie, Scotland-----One-time San Jose State University star Arron Oberholser matched his two-day total of four birdies with four more in the third round of the 136th British Open championship.

The four birdies offset five bogeys as Oberholser fired a one-over par 72 for a 216 total after 54 holes of the 72-hole championship. The two-time All-American of the 1990’s is tied for 37th place and is 12 strokes behind championship leader Sergio Garcia of Spain.

Oberholser, playing in his second Open championship, is assured of his best finish at a British Open. If he moves into the top-10 after the final round on July 22, he will earn an automatic exemption into the 2008 British Open. Oberholser begins the final round five strokes out of 10th place.
