San Jose State's Nick Brown will take on a field of 156 amateurs in the 86th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort on June 27-July 2.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to play in a big tournament like this," said Brown, who has a 76.16 career stroke average at San Jose State.
Laid out along the Oregon coastline, Bandon Dunes is a 6,732-yard par 72 links style course. The U.S. Amateur Pub Links Championship will be the fourth USGA event hosted at Bandon Dunes since 2006.
The Rocklin, Calif., native was the Sacramento region's top qualifier after shooting a four-under 140 in two rounds on the Alister MacKenzie course at Haggin Oaks.
"I'm confident with the way I've been swinging lately," said the Rocklin High School graduate. "This will be the biggest tournament for me since I had shoulder surgery back in November."
The championship opens with two days of stroke play before shifting to match play for the remainder of the tournament.
Brown has a 12:50 p.m. tee time on June 27 in the opening round.
