San Jose State men's golf will hit the links on the 6,743-yard par 71 Bandon Trails Course in the 2012 Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by Gonzaga beginning March 16.
The Spartans, currently 73rd in the latest Golfstat Rankings, will join top-10 ranked Washington (#4) and Oregon (#10) in the field. Other teams competing in the 54-hole event include: British Columbia, Colorado, Gonzaga, Hartford, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Marquette, Missouri-Kansas City, Oregon State, Pacific, Utah Valley and Weber State.
"Our guys are hungry to go out there and compete," said Spartans head coach John Kennaday. "It's been over a month since our last tournament so these guys are ready to go."
Spartan senior Jay Myers finished tenth individually in last year's Bandon Dunes Championship with a four-over par 220. Myers is currently the 45th-ranked player in the Golfstat Cup Standings and brings a team-leading 70.39 strokes per round average to Bandon this year.
Another senior Matthew Hovan and sophomore Daniel Semmler will also tee it up for the second time as Spartans in the Bandon Dunes Championship.
Live scoring via www.golfstat.com will be available during all three rounds of the Bandon Dunes Championship.
