Blick Finishes 9th, Team 13th At Amer Ari

Kohala Coast, Hawai'i - Cody Blick shot a closing round 69 for a 54-hole total of 210 (-6) and finished in ninth place at the 23rd Annual Amer Ari Inviational.  His 210 score is the lowest three-round total of his collegiate career.

On Friday Blick, a freshman, had six birdies and three bogeys on the 7,074-yard, par 72 Waikoloa Kings' Course in recording his second consecutive round in the sixties.

"Cody is making good progress, which is no surprise," said head coach John Kennaday.  "He is a strong learner and beat the No. 1 player in the country this week.  He's like a sponge and has been absorbing lots of knowledge.  This week he showed us a glimpse of what he can do."

The team shot a three-over 291 and finished the tournament with an 870 total moving from 14th place at the start of the day to a 13th place finish.

"As a team we didn't play our best this week, but I was please that everyone gave 110 percent," said Kennaday.  "We are getting close to playing real well.  If we continue to work hard and learn, we'll see some very good results in the near future."

Daniel Semmler, who shot one-under yesterday, backed that score up with closing round of 71 after firing five birdies and four bogeys.  He finished the tournament at two-over and in a tie for 49th place at 218.

Justin Estrada and Connor Covington shot 76 and 77, respectively, on Friday.  They finished in a tie for 80th place at seven-over, 223.

Landon Polterock totaled 227 after 54 holes following a final round 75 and finished at 11-over in a tie for 96th place.

Taylor Bromley, playing as an individual, closed with an 82.  His 233 total placed him in a tie for 108th place at 17-over par.

Dominic Bozelli of Auburn was the medalist shooting an 11-under 205 total. No. 4 UCLA and No. 7 Washington finished the tournament in a tie with three-day totals of 842.  On the first hole of the playoff, UCLA shot five pars to Washington's three pars and two bogeys giving the Bruins the tournament victory.

The Spartans return to action at the Bandon Dunes Invitational on March 7-9 in Bandon Dunes, Ore.
