Tucson, Ariz. – Freshman Kevin Velo climbed up to a 11th place tie with a five-under 67 in the second round of the National Invitational Tournament on Monday. Velo is three-under 141 for the tournament, eight shots behind leader Nick Voke of Iowa State.

San José State moved up one spot in the team standings to 13th place after shooting a five-over 293 on the par-72, 7,200-yard Catalina course at Omni Tucson National.

The Danville, Calif. native’s, momentum was halted on the third hole with a bogey but he made pars the rest of the round.
