Communiversity, San Jose State Athletics & PG&E Team Up

Oct. 31, 2017

For the third consecutive year, the collaboration by CommUniverCity, San Jose State University Athletics and Pacific Gas & Electric is resulting in free tickets for community members to cheer on the Spartan football team.
Students and their parents from local schools and underserved programs throughout Silicon Valley can attend for free the San Jose State vs. San Diego State game, Saturday, November 4. The game in CEFCU Stadium -- Home of the Spartans, located on 7th Street between Humboldt and Alma Avenue starts at 7:30 p.m.

"CommUniverCity San José believes everyone deserves to live in vibrant, healthy and engaged communities. A day of family fun is the least we can do to thank our local community members for all of their work in engaging others. That this day is possible makes us so glad for our collaboration with San José State's football program," says Dayana Salazar, executive director of CommUniverCity San José.

"Through the partnership with CommUniverCity San José and PG&E, San José State Athletics is providing complimentary tickets to its November 4 football game to many underserved community groups and families in Silicon Valley. These are the partnerships that fulfill our mission to serve our local community," says Blake Sasaki, senior associate athletics director for external relations at San José State.

CommUniverCity San José's mission is to build community by engaging residents and students in community-engaged learning projects that accomplish neighborhood goals. CommUniverCity's projects provide life-long learning opportunities for residents of all ages and strengthen the community's capacity to bring about vibrant, healthy and engaged neighborhoods. For many, the November 4 football game will be the first time for a family to watch a college football contest.

"PG&E is pleased to support CommUniverCity and San José State again in this wonderful partnership at the Spartans' home opener. This truly is a `win-win' for everybody," says Anthony Lin, Public Affairs for Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
