San Jose State Football To Play 5 Non-Conference Games In 2017

Sept. 27, 2016

San Jose State University's 2017 regular season football schedule will include five non-conference opponents, two of which the Spartans meet for the first time, as part of a 13-game slate.

The Spartans will open the season hosting the University of South Florida (USF) in CEFCU Stadium on August 26 and Cal Poly the following weekend prior to the Labor Day holiday.

The home-and-home series with USF, a first between these programs, includes a return game in Tampa during the 2020 season.

The Spartans' non-conference road opponents will be Texas in Austin on September 9, Utah in Salt Lake City on September 16, and BYU in Provo on October 28.

San Jose State and Texas will be meeting in football for the first time, too. The games with Utah and BYU are return encounters from home-and-home series that began in 2015 with BYU and this season with Utah.

The Spartans can play a fifth non-conference regular season game in 2017 since they will travel to Hawaii as one of their four Mountain West conference road contests.
