Building Another Winning Team -- CommUniverCity Night Presented By PG&E

When the San José State University football team takes the field in Spartan Stadium against the University of New Hampshire on September 3 at 7:00 p.m. for its 2015 season debut, a winning team will be cheering on the Spartans from the opening kickoff to the final whistle.

With the collaboration by CommUniverCity San José, San José State University Athletics and Pacific Gas & Electric, underserved local residents and their children have the opportunity to enjoy a night of entertaining NCAA Division I college football for free.

"CommUniverCity San José believes everyone deserves to live in vibrant, healthy communities. We are pleased to partner with San José State's football program and anticipate a great night of community engagement," says Dayanna Salazar, executive director of CommUniverCity San José.

"Through the partnership with CommUniverCity San José and PG&E, San José State Athletics is providing complimentary tickets to its September 3 football game to many underserved community groups and families in Silicon Valley. These are the partnerships that fulfill our mission to serve our local community," says Blake Sasaki, a senior associate athletics director for external relations at San José State.

CommUniverCity San José's mission is to build a community by engaging residents and students in service learning projects that accomplish neighborhood-conceived goals. Action projects are based on providing an educational and life-long learning opportunities for all ages and strengthening the community's capacity for vibrant, healthy and engaged neighborhoods. For many, the September 3 football game will be the first night in the community and first for a family to watch a college football contest.
