San Jose, Calif.---The resumption of two regional non-conference home-and-home series and the first pair of road games in consecutive seasons with a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent in school history comprise six future San Jose State University football contests.
The Spartans agreed to home-and-home non-conference series with Oregon State and Brigham Young University beginning in 2015 and two games with Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., starting on September 6, 2014.
San Jose State and Oregon State have games set for September 19, 2015 in Corvallis and September 19, 2020 in Spartan Stadium. The upcoming two games mark the first time since the 1987 and 1988 seasons the two universities are in a home-and-home non-conference series arrangement. Oregon State leads the series, 3-2, after defeating the Spartans, 26-12, in Corvallis on October 4, 1997.
San Jose State and Brigham Young recently completed their fifth home-and-home series in 2012 with the Spartans' 20-14 win in San Jose. The two teams resume home-and-home play on November 7, 2015 in San Jose and on October 28, 2017 in Provo.
The home-and-home series between the Spartans and the Cougars first started in 1946 and resumed in 1952, 1960, 1965 and 2011. San Jose State holds a 10-6 series lead in its games with Brigham Young.
San Jose State returns to the state of Alabama and SEC football with its September 6, 2014 game at Auburn. The two-game series also includes an October 3, 2015 contest at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The last time the Spartans faced a SEC opponent was in its September 4, 2010 season-opener against then-defending national champion and preseason #1-ranked Alabama. The Auburn series will mark the first time the Spartans will play one SEC member in back-to-back seasons. Since 1991, San Jose State's games against SEC teams include encounters at Florida in 1991 and 2003, Louisiana State in 1999 and Alabama in 2010.
