Enthusiasm Abounds At 1st Fall Football Practice

For more than three hours under a warm afternoon sun, the San Jose State University football team conducted its first preseason practice on its new grass turf.

Hear what offensive tackle Wes Schweitzer, linebacker Christian Tago and running backs Jarrod Lawson and Thomas Tuckerhad to say following their first practice.


Head coach Ron Caragherdivided the initial practice in half with the veterans getting their work in first followed by a group of anxious newcomers. The second-year Spartans head coach has experience with early practice in manner from his days as a University of Kentucky assistant.

The split practices continue through the weekend on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3, starting at 3:15 p.m.
