San Jose State Football Picked Fourth In Mountain West Media Poll

Las Vegas, Nev.----- With 16 returning starters and 42 returning letterwinners from last year’s team, San Jose State University was picked to finish fourth in the West Division of the Mountain West by a panel of media members.

The Spartans look to rebound from a 3-9 overall record and 2-6 mark in conference play a year ago.

San Diego State was the clear choice by the media to finish first in the West Division. The Aztecs received 27 of 30 first-place votes and 177 points. Fresno State was next with the remaining three first-place votes and 141 points. Nevada with 113 points also was ahead of the Spartans’ 91. Hawaii at 70 and UNLV with 38 rounded out the media’s picks.

Defending Mountain West champion Boise State was picked for first in the Mountain Division with 28 first-place votes and 177 points. Utah State, Colorado State, Air Force, Wyoming and New Mexico filled out the media’s poll for the Mountain Division.

San Jose State begins preseason practice on August 4. The Spartans’ season starts on Thursday, September 3, with the home opener against New Hampshire. Season tickets for the 2015 season are available at
