San Jose State University will make its first of a school-record nine national television appearances in a football season when the Spartans face Auburn University, Saturday, September 6, in a 6:00 p.m. (CT)/4:00 p.m. (PT)/7:00 p.m. (ET) telecast on ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The San Jose State-Auburn game will be one of four appearances by the Spartans on the ESPN family of networks to go along with five CBS Sports Network games. San Jose State's previous high for national television appearances in a season was seven in 2013.
The non-conference meeting will be the first of two San Jose State visits in back-to-back seasons to Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Spartans head into the season with 17 returning starters from the 2013 team that finished with a 6-6 overall record and a 5-3 mark in Mountain West Conference play.
The Tigers will be San Jose State's first Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent since the 2010 season opener with then-defending national champion Alabama. Since playing Florida in 1991, the Spartans' non-conference games with SEC members include LSU in 1999, Florida in 2003 and Alabama in 2010.
