Identifying another NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision program willing to play home-and-home non-conference contests, San José State University will face the University of Tulsa in a pair of games in 2016 and 2019.

The Spartans and the Golden Hurricane will play in Tulsa on September 3, 2016 and in San José's Spartan Stadium on September 7, 2019.

For these teams, they will resume a series that started in 1999 when both universities were Western Athletic Conference members. San José State joined the Mountain West Conference in 2013. Tulsa became a Conference USA member in 2005 and is moving to the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2014.

The series is tied, 3-3, with each team winning twice at home and once on the road. The last time these teams faced each other was a 34-24 Golden Hurricane win on November 20, 2004 in Tulsa. In 2012, both programs had 11-win seasons and were victorious in a bowl game.

"Tulsa has a very respected program. They made a splash on the national scene in recent years. I think it is a great matchup and it will be a good home-and-home series," says San José State head coach Ron Caragherwho did not face Tulsa when he was a player at UCLA nor as an assistant coach at UCLA or Kentucky.

Tulsa is the latest team signing a home-and-home non-conference football agreement with San José State for games 2015 and later. Previously, Oregon State, Utah and Colorado of the Pacific-12, Iowa State of the Big 12 and independents Army and BYU agreed to home-and-home non-conference games.
