47 Student-Athletes Receive Academic All-Mountain West Honors

Five Spartans received their fourth Academic All-MW recognition.

AT SAN JOSE STATE: In his second season with the Spartans... Signed a National Letter-of-Intent in February 2016... Challenging for playing time at a linebacker position... Last name is pronounced Fi-la-un-gah.

2016: Played in 10 games as a reserve linebacker and special teams player... Credited with eight tackles... Had a season-high four tackles at Iowa State (9/24)... Two each in the Portland State win (9/10) and at San Diego State (10/21).

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football at Eastside Catholic High in Sammamish, Wash. (Coach Jeremy Thielbahr)... A two-time first team all-league and a 2015 Seattle Times first-team all-metro selection... Was credited with 68 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 15 quarterback sacks as a senior... Also intercepted a pass and blocked a punt in 2015... Led Bellarmine High of Tacoma (Coach Tom Larsen) with 9.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 quarterback sacks and was in on 79 tackles in 2014... Was a first-team all-city choice as a junior.
