Became the first San Jose State freshman quarterback to throw a touchdown pass in the first two games of a season and have a single-game passing efficiency rating of more than 200.00 with a 213.36 rating in the Cal Poly win (9/2) ... Threw a 22-yard TD pass to wide receiver Justin Holmes in the fourth quarter of the season opener vs. USF (South Florida - 8/26)...Came into the Cal Poly contest as the back-up signal caller and completed 11-of-17 without an interception for 183 yards and three touchdowns... Moved into the starting lineup the next week at Texas (9/9) and started at Utah (9/16)... Was injured on a running play vs. Utah and missed the next three games... Returned to game action and the starting lineup at Hawai'i (10/14) and started the remaining six contests... Passed for a season-high 322 yards and two touchdowns vs. Hawai'i... Also had his longest run of the season of 21 yards at Hawaii.

HIGH SCHOOL: 2015 Cal-HiSports.com second-team all-state selection for medium-sized schools playing for Antelope (Calif.) High (Coach Matt Ray)... Completed 65.4 percent of his passes (267-of-408) for 4,000 yards and 41 touchdowns with just 11 interceptions in the 23 games he played... Rushed for 287 yards and 12 touchdowns on 79 carries combined as a junior and senior... 2015 All-C.I.F. Sac-Joaquin Section and Sacramento Bee first-team All-Metro choice... Second-team All-Northern California pick... Concluded his high school football career completing 4-of-6 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown in the 2016 Optimist All-Star Game in Sacramento, Calif. ... The three-sport letterwinner also was an all-metro selection in basketball and as a pitcher in baseball for Antelope High... Had a 3-3 win-loss pitching record with a 2.84 earned run average and led his team with a .388 batting average as a senior.
