The Spartans made their first visit to Iowa State in 36 years, but lost, 44-10.

AT SAN JOSÉ STATE: In his third season with the Spartans... Battling for the starting quarterback job... Is the onlly quarterback on the team with previous major college experience... Placed on scholarship in 2016... Joined the team for the first time for 2015 preseason drills. 

2016: Appeared in all 12 games... Starting quarterback at Iowa State (9/24)... Threw passes in five games... Most effective outing was against Utah (9/17) when he replaced injured starter Kenny Potter near the end of the third quarter... Finished the Utah game completing 11-of-21 passes with an interception for 184 yards and a 46-yard touchdown pass to running back Zamore Zigler... Was 13-of-27 with four interceptions for 155 yards and a touchdown at Iowa State in his only start... Earned the team's number-one spot as holder on kick-scoring attempts... Spartans were 31-of-33 on PATs and 16-of-18 on field goal tries.

2015: Completed a redshirt season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football (Coaches Antonio Pierce, Raul Lara) at Long Beach (Calif.) Poly High... Led the Jackrabbits to an 11-2 record in his one season as a starting quarterback... Completed 200 of 318 passes for 3,199 yards and 41 touchdowns and ran for six more touchdowns in 2014... Named all-state special mention by CalHiSports.com, a first-team All Pac5 Division choice and the Moore League Co-Player of the Year award winner as a senior... Shared the quarterback job as a junior throwing 17 touchdown passes with only two interceptions... Played his sophomore season at Tesoro High in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.
