AT SAN JOSE STATE: In his third season with the Spartans... A two-season starter at a linebacker position... 25 games played and 22 starting calls... Six games played with 10 or more tackles... Has a single-game career best 14 tackles four times - once in 2015 and three times in 2016... Signed a National Letter-of-Intent in December 2014 and joined the program for the 2015 spring semester... A 2015 and 2016 Academic All-Mountain West award winner.
2016: Played in 12 games and started 10 times... Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for his matching his single-game career high 14 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 quarterback sacks in the Fresno State win (11/26)... Topped the team in total tackles with 99 stops and 11.5 tackles for loss... Five games with 10 or more tackles... Single-game career best 14 tackles in the opener at Tulsa (9/3) and in each of the last two games against Air Force (11/19) and at Fresno State... Was fifth in the Mountain West for tackles for loss and had at least 1.0 in seven games... Shared team high honors and was ranked in the Mountain West's top-10 with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries... Tied for 30th nationally and seventh in the conference in fumble recoveries... Ninth in the Mountain West in forced fumbles... Second on the team and fourth in the Mountain West with 6.5 quarterback sacks... Only defensive player on the team to score a touchdown with his 19-yard fumble return against Hawai'i (10/8)... 2015: Played in 13 games and made 12 starts... Started the most games by a 2015 San Jose State first-time freshman... Most starts in a season by a Spartan freshman linebacker since the 2010 season... Only game he did not start was at Air Force (9/12)... Named the team's Freshman of the Year at the team's annual awards banquet... Third on the team in tackles with 80... Fourth among Mountain West freshmen for most total tackles... Had at least four tackles in every game... Most productive game was his season-high 14 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in the UNLV overtime win (10/10)... Led the team with eight solo stops and had nine total tackles at Auburn (10/3).
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2014 CalHiSports.com first-team all-state choice for medium-sized schools from Pacheco High in Los Banos, Calif. (Coach David Snapp)... A two-time first-team All-Western Athletic Conference honoree that was credited with 115 tackles and 8.0 tackles for loss as a senior... Became the school's first 1,000-yard rusher in a season with 1,087 yards scoring 17 touchdowns on 120 carries in 2013... Averaged 8.8 yards per carry and scored 25 touchdowns during his high school career... Also lettered in basketball and track and field... Was a sprinter and a shot put and discus thrower in track and field.
