Men's Basketball 15 Home Games, At Kansas on ESPNU

San Jose-For the second time in three seasons, the San Jose State men's basketball schedule features 15 home games for the 2012-13 season and a matchup at Kansas on ESPNU, as released by head coach George Nessman.

The Spartans' home schedule features non-conference games against Houston, Weber State, UC Santa Cruz, Sacramento State, cross-town rival Santa Clara and New Orleans.

The team plays nine Western Athletic Conference home games, highlighted by a Friday night game on February 8, against Utah State, and a Valentine's Day matchup with New Mexico State.  Five schools visit for the first time as conference foes - Seattle, UT Arlington, Denver, UTSA and Texas State.

San Jose State's road schedule features games at New Orleans (Nov. 9) for the first time in school history and a trip to Lawrence, Kan., to face NCAA Tournament participant Kansas (Nov. 26.)  The San Jose State-Kansas game will be shown live on ESPN at 8 p.m. CST/6 p.m. PST.

The team also takes trips to Montana State, UC Davis and faces James Madison at the Las Vegas Classic.  That game will be played at the MGM Grand Garden on December 22.

The 2013 WAC Basketball Tournament will be held March 13-16, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.  The tournament begins on Tuesday, March 12, as seeds 7-10 play each other.  The quarterfinals will be played on Thursday, March 14, followed by the semifinals on Friday, March 15, and championship game on Saturday, March 16, to be televised live on ESPNU at 8 p.m. PST.

"We are looking forward to the challenges ahead on our schedule," said Nessman.  "We think it provides good balance overall. Our non-conference slate highlighted by a game at Kansas will prepare us for WAC play and give us an opportunity to have a solid strength of schedule.

"The WAC, itself, has a number of new teams and offers some fresh and formidable opponents. Finally, our fans will enjoy our home slate with 15 home games."
