Las Vegas, Nev. --- San José State had a dismal shooting performance and fell to UNLV 74-40 in a Mountain West game at the Thomas & Mack Center on Saturday night.

The Spartans (2-14, 0-4) shot 23 percent (14-60) for the game with only five made baskets in the second half. Meanwhile, the Rebels (10-6, 1-2 MW) shot 55 percent from the floor, and hit 15-of-21 shots in the first period to take a 35-20 lead into the halftime locker room.

"You aren't going to beat anyone if you don't make shots," said San José State head coach Dave Wojcik. "You are going to have those days. We outshot them by 15 attempts but we just didn't make enough of them."

UNLV extended its lead to as many as 35 in the second half. Rashad Vaughn led the way with 15 points for the Rebels.

Jaleel Williams finished with a season-high 17 points to lead the Spartans.

The Spartans continue Mountain West action next week when Fresno State visits The Event Center Wednesday, January 14 at 7:00 p.m.
